An immersive experience in every sense

Designed by Wilson Associates, Haidilao’s newest outlet at Marina Square mall presents an exceptionally futuristic dining experience with a personalised menu, immersive dining experience with sound and light projection, and robot servers, on top of its signature services.

The restaurant’s theatrical dining experience requires a sound design built with high quality, durable material, hence the designer’s choice to use Dekton and Silestone in its busiest areas. The interior design incorporates no less than 180 slabs of Dekton Soke and 10 slabs of Silestone Desert Silver, with a total of 806 sqm and 50 sqm of surfaces, respectively.

A beauty salon that earns its name

A great dining experience is an alchemy of great food, great service and great ambience. In the age of information and disruption, customers are spoilt for choice. F&B establishments need to constantly reinvent their offerings – menu, interior design, dining promotions – to keep diners coming back for more. They need to sustain diners’ interest with fresh experiences that cannot be found elsewhere.

Haidilao understands this. Going above and beyond impeccable customer service, the restaurant chain’s answer to providing and unforgettable dining experience includes services like manicure in a beauty room while diners wait for their tables. Silestone Desert Silver is chosen for the vanity tops in the beauty room for its modern look and durability.

A fresh new look for a classic style establishment

The patisserie Glea, run by the young chef Abel Bravo and located in the historic centre of Murcia, first opened its doors in November 2020. It is housed in a traditional establishment, at number 4 Barrionuevo Street, and sells innovative and distinctive sweet treats, with a focus on fresh ingredients.

Although the establishment is housed in a classic style building, its renovation conveys innovation and modernity, in line with the values of the new patisserie. For this, interior designer Alexia Martínez, together with architect Pedro Francisco, has relied on Dekton for the renovation process.

For the flooring, the chosen material was Dekton Kreta, from the Industrial collection. Inspired by polished concrete, Dekton Kreta evokes a seamless effect, making it perfect for use as a base colour to be combined with bold finishes. For the tables, the interior designer has opted for Dekton Kelya, a material inspired by dark marble which features light veins and creates a very unique atmosphere.

Impressive display counter in Dekton Bergen

The focal point of this establishment is undoubtedly its large display counter designed as if it were a monolithic totem. This starring effect is achieved in two ways: firstly, by placing the finest sweets in Murcia within easy reach; secondly, by choosing a material with a strong visual presence and character such as Dekton Bergen.

Dekton Bergen is part of the Dekton Stonika collection. Inspired by natural Portobello stone, it is reminiscent of Greek sculptures, with marked greyish veins on an off-white base. When used on the display counter, it greatly enhances the presentation of products, elevating the sweets to the status of almost divine delicacies.

Interestingly, the name of the patisserie, Glea, means “land” in Murcian Spanish, an allusion to the importance of using local ingredients and products. This philosophy fits perfectly with that of Dekton by Cosentino, committed to sustainability and certified as a carbon neutral product for its entire life cycle.

A buffet counter to tempt the appetite as well as the eye

The Ritz-Carlton Abama is a five-star resort in Tenerife, the island of eternal spring. It is the perfect place to rest and relax while enjoying excellent guest service, in line with the philosophy of The Ritz-Carlton chain. With this purpose in mind, the renovation of one of its restaurants, “La Veranda”, was carried out in 2019.

The hotel has an extensive gastronomic offer with eight different restaurants, some of which have been awarded several Michelin stars. “La Veranda” is dedicated to breakfast and pop-up proposals. Therefore, this restaurant is equipped with large buffet counters where the food is beautifully presented and live cooking is performed.

During the modernisation project of the restaurant, led by Gregory de Clerck, all worktops were replaced with a single material: Dekton Olimpo. The result is a clear, relaxed and elegant atmosphere, in contrast to the warmth of the wood used in the dining area. Dekton Olimpo is a material from the Stonika collection inspired by Carrara marble. Its white colour with grey veins adds character and enhances the look of the restaurant.

The resistance of Dekton in cooking areas

Dekton can withstand the most extreme temperatures, such as hot cookware just taken off the hob. Furthermore, Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface offers high resistance to scratches and aggressive chemicals, as well as almost zero porosity. Dekton worktops, with a 25-year warranty, were the best technical solution for the renovation of the buffet area.

From an aesthetic point of view, Dekton also had many advantages. The large format slabs (320 cm x 144 cm) create continuous, seamless surfaces that are more beautiful and easier to keep clean. These extra large slabs are ideal for worktops as big as those of “La Veranda”. Furthermore, the variety of thicknesses available (from 3 cm to 0.4 cm) multiplies the design possibilities allowing, for example, the same material to be used for worktops and kitchen cabinet doors.

The result is a sublime finish, beautiful and functional at the same time, ideal for surprising guests and making breakfast a first class experience.

Dekton, design with large format

Pilsa Educa is a hospitality school, located in Armilla (Granada) for professional and amateur chefs, in which excellence, innovation and leadership are the main ingredients.

The interior design work carried out in this school is inspired by an industrial unit where the original metal structure and brick walls are visible within the old building. The factory-style decor is interposed by various elements that bring us closer to the eternal beauty of nature and also visually differentiate the different spaces.

The Pilsa Hostelería Técnica design team wanted, from the very beginning, to expand the industrial aspect of the walls and metal structures to the floors and other elements such as worktops or work tables in the classrooms. After looking into several possibilities, the ultra-compact Dekton surface offered such a wide range of colours and sizes to suit any design.

Pilsa Educa - H Pilsa Educa Aula countertop cladding 181

A sustainable surface made to last

The Trilium colour, which is part of the Dekton Industrial Collection, was the perfect colour to meet the initial aesthetic requirements thanks to its unique oxidised metal appearance. The chiaroscuro contrast of this surface and its smooth texture give it an unparalleled industrial appearance. Another stand-out feature is that it’s environmentally sustainable: Trilium is manufactured with up to 80% recycled materials from the Dekton production process itself.

Dekton Trilium covers classroom floors and, as if it were one whole flowing piece of material, it runs along the work tables and worktops, where cooking classes are taught or culinary activities and events are held. In total, 260m2 of Dekton® Trilium has been applied to flooring, vertical cladding and worktops.

Due to the vast amount of activities that take place in the building every day, the Pilsa Educa cooking school needs materials that, in addition to being beautiful, are hard-wearing and functional in order to guarantee their durability over time. Dekton’s resistance to heat, cold, heavy-duty use, scratches and stains make it the perfect choice. Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface also allows food to be prepared and handled directly on the surface without any fear of breakage or burning, and ensuring maximum hygiene and safety.

Endless possibilities for creating unique spaces

A natural look has been chosen by the Pilsa Hostelería Técnica team for the reception area in order to differentiate it aesthetically from the classrooms and working areas.

A large wall of grass welcomes you. Its intense green colour contrasts with the natural white mantle offered by the Dekton surface, in its Aura shade, which extends across the floor and the reception desk. The attractive Aura shade, from the Dekton Natural Collection, is simply incredible. The white background is enhanced by the pattern of clear and elegant grey veins that evoke natural rock formations.

A total of 75m2 of Dekton Aura has been applied to the floor, reception counter, bar and worktop.

First of all, the design

How do you end up designing kitchens specifically for outdoor use? For Raphael Coray, it all started when his wife bought him a barbecue. That gift sparked a passion that has turned into a business: Prime Two Outdoor Kitchen Lifestyle.

Today, the Swiss brand has become a benchmark for the design of all kinds of outdoor kitchens which share a common principle: functionality is certainly important, but beauty comes first. The most recent example is this outdoor barbecue clad in Dekton Kreta, a genuine piece of art, which its designer explains: ‛When designing, I like to be inspired by modern architecture. For me, the focus is on appearance. For this latest design I was inspired by the villa “proyecto / 705”, by Russian architect Roman Vlaslov.’

Outdoor barbecue - Prime Two Widnau3 227

Dekton, the material to stand-up to the weather

This is not the first time Raphael Coray has worked with Dekton. In fact, he knows this material well, having tested it against the potential challenges that an outdoor kitchen can face at social events: acids, cleaning products, dirt, knocks… The material not only withstood, but also retained its properties. An essential feature for this type of kitchen.

‛There is nothing more merciless than nature. Dekton can withstand high temperature variations from winter to summer, harsh weather conditions and even environmental pollution without any problems’, says Coray.

The ultra-compact Dekton surface is a non-porous material and as such is especially resistant to stains, humidity and temperature contrasts, making it suitable for use in façades and original projects such as Prime Two kitchens.

A renovation between design and durability

Located at the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, Lau Pa Sat (meaning ‘The Old Market’ in Singapore’s colloquial Chinese) is one of the oldest Victorian-era structures in Southeast Asia. It was first built in 1824 as a waterfront fish market elsewhere before undergoing several refurbishments and relocated to its current location in 1894. The market was converted into a hawker centre in 1972 and gazetted as a national monument in 1973.

Today, Lau Pa Sat still sports the same cast-iron octagonal structure designed by engineer James MacRitchie in 1894, but with a thoroughly modernised interior.

Cosentino has taken part in the historic revamp which was completed in 2020. Done by local architecture studio Farm, Lau Pa Sat’s latest renovation applies a combined total of 410 sqm of Dekton and Silestone for various areas within Food Folks.

Lau Pa Sat - Cosentino LauPaSat 8 252

Dekton Keyla, a color to play with contrast

Durability, cleaning and maintenance are an important part in deciding what materials are best to use for the high-traffic F&B and retail space in Lau Pa Sat. Highly resistant to heat, cold, scratches, stains, and non-porous, ultracompact Dekton and quartz surface Silestone are the ideal choices for the countertops in Lau Pa Sat.

Lau Pa Sat sports a total of 260 sqm of 20mm-thick Dekton Kelya as its semi-outdoor stalls’ countertops. Inspired by dark marbles, Dekton® Kelya features a handsome dark background with subtle brown flecks and elegant pale veins that makes it ideal for high-performing areas that frequently come in contact with oil, water, heat and stains, as seen at the venue’s famous mixed rice stalls.

“Dekton Kelya has a quiet yet mysterious character that does not clash with the busy hawker stalls,” a representative for Farm explains.

Sustainable design

The versatile ultra-compact surface, Dekton has been specified at the trendy Kol restaurant in Marylebone, London. Opened in October 2020 by former Noma Mexico chef Santiago Lastra, his debut restaurant Kol brings together Mexican cuisine with local British produce, including shellfish from Scotland’s shoreline and foraged ingredients from Kent’s woodlands.

Designed by A-nrd Studio, Kol’s distinctive open plan layout with its kitchen as the central focus pays homage to Mexico with its warming, vibrant colour palette, while also incorporating a sense of pared back, minimalist Scandinavian design with plenty of wooden elements, straight lines and foliage. Spanning across two levels and five hundred square meters, the restaurant also boasts a mezcal bar on the ground floor, for serving up Mexican cocktails and spirits to guests.

Dekton Trilium, made from up to 80% of recycled materials, was the surface of choice throughout the restaurant’s kitchen and serving areas. Showcasing a mixture of colours inspired by volcanic rock, Dekton Trilium’s intense and irregular accents of black and grey and its matte finish result in a rich and varied surface design, with an appearance that alters depending on the angle of the light on the surface.

Kol Restaurant - V KOL Restaurant Cosentino 1 286

A look and feel like no other

“Dekton was always the surface of choice for my new Kol restaurant in Marylebone, London,” says Santiago. “Its technical properties exceed the other options available and there is so much choice when it comes to the look and feel of the surface; it was difficult to choose a colour! We decided that Dekton Trilium was perfect for helping to convey the relaxed yet fun feel that we wanted in the restaurant – plus, we loved the fact that Dekton Trilium is made from recycled materials. I am so pleased with how Trilium has brought the open-plan restaurant kitchen design to life, and its durability is second to none.”

Dekton boats superior technical properties, such as high resistance to UV rays, scratches, stains and thermal shock, and very low water absorption. Made from a sophisticated mixture of the raw materials used to make glass, next-generation porcelain surfaces and quartz surfaces, Dekton is suitable for a variety of different projects, including worktops, flooring and wall cladding, both inside and outside.

Exterior elegance, interior strength

TOPA Sukaldería is located in the heart of San Sebastián´s Gros district (Northern Spain), and occupies a total space of 496 m2, divided over two floors. The ground floor is occupied by the kitchen and the dining lounge, while the bathrooms are located in the basement. Clarity of space, contrasts, an upbeat, cosy environment, myriad ways of welcoming customers, high-quality decorative and architectural products, and the use of recycled materials are just some of the key concepts that define this project.

The ultra-compact surface Dekton, and the ecological Silestone Eco Line range were chosen for this design. More than 400 m2 of Cosentino products were used in this inspirational culinary project. The spectacular kitchen and dining lounge are located on the ground floor. In this large space, the emphasis is on the visual contrast between the natural, marbled finishes of the Dekton Kelya and Dekton Aura tones, and the wooden planks and metallic textures that permeate the entire room.

Topa Sukaldería - v Topa Sukalderia 4 337

Resistance and hygiene for the most exposed surfaces

One of the priorities of this design was to harness the concept of an open kitchen, to allow customers and diners to see the chefs’ creative process first-hand. The Dekton Aura worktops and counters connect the kitchen with the rest of the room in an elegant harmony. Their wonderful pure white clarity, together with their distinctive veins, make them the room’s stand-out feature.

The safety and hygiene offered by Dekton when handling food, its high tolerance for both heat and cold without suffering aesthetic or structural changes, its high resistance to stains and scratching, and the availability of large format cut to size were determining factors in the choice of Dekton surfacing.

Furthermore, Dekton Aura was used as counter for the furniture located throughout the dining room, bringing greater visual harmony to the space as a whole.

Large format to minimize joints

The contrast between the stainless steel, which can be seen in abundance throughout the kitchen, and the deep, dark, matte finish colour of Dekton Kelya, is quite simply magnificent.

In addition to the beauty and outstanding technical benefits of Dekton, the option of installing large format slabs for the kitchen walls, with minimal visible joints, gives the space a greater sense of continuity and aesthetic elegance.

Environmentally friendly materials

For the sake of elegance and functionality, the Starlight colour from the Silestone Eco Line was used for the wall cladding in the bathrooms. This material was chosen in line with the use of recycled wood shavings for the ceilings and other cladding within the premises.

The emphatic black colour of Starlight provides the perfect contrast to the white of the bathroom elements and the grey shades of the flooring. The scintillating gleam of the mirror shards which are incorporated into slabs of Silestone® Eco Line balances the light and the darkness in the room, and creates an unexpectedly bewitching visual effect.

Opera and Domoos, durability for the Britannia dining area

The Britannia Hotel in Trondheim, Norway, first opened its doors in 1870. The Britannia, a landmark and historic site, has undergone numerous refurbishments over the years. The most recent took place in 2019, when it underwent a complete renovation involving the rooms and common areas, such as the Michelin-starred Speilsalen restaurant.

Seeking a balance between design and durability, the refurbishment team used Dekton in colours Opera and Domoos for those surfaces in constant use by chefs and customers, such as the restaurant countertop and bar, as well as tables and furniture in the buffet area.

Dekton makes the maintenance of the most used surfaces easy

Dekton Opera reflects the beauty and elegance of Italian Carrara marble; with its characteristic veining in grey tones, Opera adds distinction to the restaurant while offering great resistance to scratches, knocks and temperature contrasts typical in kitchens.

As for Dekton Domoos, it has been used to cover the buffet tables, a choice intended to give sobriety to the furniture, while combining with the light-coloured wood used for table frames.

Dekton is a non-porous surface, which allows for easy maintenance and cleaning, as abrasive substances do not affect its colour. It is ideal for adding a touch of style and colour to highly used surfaces.
