Casa Mirasierra, COAM Awards 2017
Ángela Juarránz y Javier de Andrés
Madrid, Spain
The Mirasierra House, which recently came away with the 2017 COAM Award, was designed under zero energy consumption criteria and the increasingly forgotten aesthetic of the Madrid residential neighborhood that gives it its name.

The firm Juarránz&deAndrés arquitectos has executed a project that combines materiality and landscaping in a four-level dwelling. The design cross-ventilates all the rooms, eliminates thermal bridges through the enclosure, and uses active strategies like geothermal energy to optimize climate comfort inside the building. Finally, the interior layout results in a high degree of use flexibility, transcending the basic needs of a home.
