VoltarThe first of its kind in Scandinavia, typologically, this multi-awarded mirador-tower with a hyperbolic shape seeks to bring visitors closer to nature by giving them a new perspective of the boreal forest and its ever-changing appearance: the view from above the treetops. Its uniqueness is its strong point, with the potential to boost tourism in the area.
The idea of the construction and its unique frame came from a desire to give everyone access to the forest, a special place with a huge variety of fauna and flora that is not to be invaded or hindered in any way. The project involved two different parts: a series of paths through the woods, and the observation tower culminating it. The tower structure was built with weathered steel and locally sourced wood. The latter is used for the floor of the boardwalk that spirals up amid treetops to a height of 45 meters. The visitor is treated to a 360º view and can see all the way to Copenhagen or Malmö; a true experience of immersion in nature, unprecedented in the Nordic countries.
