The Shilin district, in northern Taipei (Taiwan), is home to a new Christian church. The church, with its white, minimalist façade, stands out in the urban environment as a timeless symbol thanks to its minimalist architecture with modern influences. Designed by HCW Architects & Associates in collaboration with Mikael Kaul Architect INC, it is the largest Bread of Life church in the country. Its multiple spaces were especially designed to accommodate all kinds of events, from Sunday masses to weddings, seminars, lectures and workshops. In accordance with its spiritual use, the studio proposed a façade with simple lines and a strong contemporary character full of symbolism.

The colours chosen for this harmonious and striking façade were Zenith, Ariane and Strato, three pure white Dekton colours that blend into the façade with large glass windows that flood the interiors with light. In the words of architect Hsieh Chung Yang, “we chose Dekton not only for its extreme hardness, durability and anti-scratch surface, but also for its self-cleaning properties and stain resistance”.

The initial project for this development built by the Palomera company in Santander (Spain) envisaged that part of the façade would be made of concrete. However, after considering various possibilities, the architects decided on a finish with similar characteristics in terms of aesthetics, but with greater resistance to temperature changes and unfavourable weather conditions, such as Dekton Protek Slim. The large dimensions of this material – with formats up to 3,200 x 1,440 mm – made it possible to create an image very similar to the one they had in mind.

The position of the floors of these six family houses varies on the site in order to better integrate the complex into the landscape and ensure perfect natural lighting, which reveals the exterior cladding. According to Be2Arq Arquitectura y Diseño, ‘working with a material that is virtually unchanged, more durable and requires little maintenance was a very rewarding experience.’

With over one hundred years of history, Fannie May chocolate stores are a Chicago institution. Fannie May’s first recipes date back to 1920, and since then they have created more than 100 unique and delicious treats. It is precisely this innovative spirit that is reflected in the design of all their stores, such as this one in La Grange, Illinois.

The team of DXU Architects opted for a façade clad in Dekton Zenith, a pure white against which the Chicago-based chain’s iconic red logo stands out. A subtle black strip in Dekton Domoos further accentuates the overall clean and harmonious image of the store in the building as a whole.

Having used Dekton with great success in previous applications, architects were won over by the endless possibilities of this material in terms of performance and design. The perfect installation of the large panels carried out by the Stone Systems team fully achieved the desired result.

Bank on Buffalo found the perfect partner in Dekton to help modernize and scale this growing bank. Bank on Buffalo focuses on commercial banking with locations in the northeast of the United States, predominantly in the city of Buffalo, NY, a region marked by hot summers and extremely cold winters. The architects needed an exterior material that was durable and stable during the freeze-thaw cycle while contributing to the monolithic appearance of the entrance and drive-thru lanes.

They found their match in Dekton Zenith, a solid and homogenous white that adds a modern and sleek touch to the exterior of the Bank’s branches and drive-thru lanes, both on an aesthetic and functional level.

Few things are as awe-inspiring as an all jet-black facade. It creates an imposing aura that turns heads and makes jaws drop, and the Zen Leaf facade covered in Dekton Domoos is the perfect example.

The architect of Zen Leaf Dispensaries was looking to create a modern and sleek aesthetic for the facade of its Lombard, IL location and were introduced to Dekton by the general contractor Glendale Supply. When they saw the graphite black color of Dekton Domoos, they knew it was the perfect color and material for the project.

As fate would have it, the former Porsche retail showroom (now Peloton) is only a few miles down the road from Zen Leaf, and completely cladded with Dekton Domoos. The owner and designer visited the showroom saw first-hand the visual impact of Domoos when used as an exterior application. The rest was history.

A monolithic facade was achieved with large panels of Dekton Domoos with matching tight grout joints. This “bulletproof” material was perfect to withstand the harsh winters and hot summers of the greater Chicago area while also being unaffected by the large amounts of salt used to clean the streets during the winter.

In 2021, the partial restoration of a building situated at 3 Via Paleocapa in Bergamo (Italy) was successfully completed. The job consisted of replacing the existing ventilated façade, which was only 15 years old, with a more lightweight and equally beautiful one.

When the Duesse Hi Tech team took over the management of the project, they were faced with a building at serious risk of collapse due to the weight of the 250 m2 of natural stone – probably Calacatta of national origin – used on its façade. Furthermore, on the ground floor, designed as a portico supported on pillars, they found a 5 cm depression caused by the static load. The risk posed to the building and pedestrians -as it is a busy street in Bergamo- demanded quick action.

In addition to the excess weight of the natural stone, there was a technical problem with the anchoring system of the ventilated façade, which had been incorrectly designed in terms of static load bearing capacity. In the restoration, 12 mm Dekton Entzo slabs were used to replace the natural stone, thus significantly reducing the weight to about 50 kg per unit on each of the building’s walls.

Considering the urgency of replacing the façade, Dekton was the best option. The new design, the installation of the substructure and insulation layer, and the entire cladding were completed in just two weeks with a team of three people.

Lakeside is a well-known commercial bank in the Chicago area, Illinois. As part of the refurbishment process of some of their offices, specifically the Oakbrook Terrace office, they hired the services of the architectural studio Pappageorge Haymes Ltd. From the very beginning, the studio planned a modern, interesting façade that would catch the eye of passers-by, inviting them to look at it.

The execution of a stunning façade required a high quality material. Pappageorge had worked with natural stone in the past, but problems always arose because of its poor UV resistance and technical limitations. The studio had heard about the technical properties of Dekton on exterior façades and was keen to learn more.

The Cosentino team met with Pappageorge architects, provided material samples and designed a mock-up featuring the XL 45 system. In this rainscreen system, aluminum rails are anchored to the back of the Dekton slab by horizontal grooves. In the end, Dekton was the material of choice for the versatility it offered in such a complex project. Stone Systems of Chicago, a certified fitter knowledgeable of the material, was in charge of the execution of the project.

For the complete renovation of this large villa in Israel’s central district, architect Dolfi Levy and designer Adi Chamizer faced both an aesthetic and a technical challenge: the material used to clad the exterior façade and the interior walls had to be the same; a surface that would be beautiful and with a pleasant texture and would also withstand outdoor use.

‘As might be expected, this is a particularly demanding and special criterion, as most interior cladding materials are not suitable for outdoor use, and exterior cladding materials often have a coarse texture that is unpleasant to touch and sight for a private interior space’, explain Levy Chamizer Architects.

In addition, the original villa featured exposed concrete elements, both on the façade and on the roof of the entrance floor. ‘It was very important to us that the material selected complemented the existing exposed concrete of the building.’

When José Luis Moral takes off, the world lies at his feet. The fervent sports pilot climbs over the meadows and wooded hills north of Lake Zurich and looks out over a breathtaking Alpine panorama. The snow-covered mountains glitter above, as does the lake below. Moral has been installing surfaces for individual construction projects of his customers for around 30 years on its banks and far beyond. With Roandi Immobilien AG he has become one of the developers himself.

His down-to-earth attitude also benefits him here. This way Moral was able to find optimally located logistical locations in a very attractive region, both scenically and commercially, not only for Pizrog Natursteine AG, which he is the head of, but also for an important business partner. The main user in Neuhaus became the “Cosentino Center Zurich” with 375 sq m of exhibition and office space and 2,325 sq m of storage space. The specialist for individual processing and the laying of stone surfaces moved with his company to Bubikon, which is 15 km away.

The substructure for the outer cladding consists of thermally separated aluminum brackets, which are fastened with bolt anchors to the concrete wall, otherwise insulated with 19 cm stone wool. Vertical L-profiles are attached to the supporting brackets with horizontal double T-rails. The top and bottom slotted Dekton plates were inserted into these and securely fixed on site by the Pizrog Natursteine AG installers. “With this system you work very quickly and at the same time with high precision”, says Moral.

Since Dekton only has a negligibly low thermal expansion coefficient the spaces between the individual plates can be very small. “While large window areas allow plenty of daylight inside the opaque part of the building envelope has a softly shimmering monolithic character this way”, says a satisfied José Luis Moral. He will soon be building again with Roandi. Another large commercial building is being built right next to the “Cosentino Center Zürich” – naturally again in the proven combination with Dekton Danae.

The main attraction of this house, located in a pretty village in northern Spain, is its commitment to modernity: making use of cubic forms combining black and wood tones, architect Ricard Fina Calatrava has played with the layout of a single horizontal plane that contrasts with the rural environment surrounding the house.

The architect wanted to avoid the clichés of the traditional “rustic” house and went for a contemporary, highly functional and efficient design. To this end, he opted for a ventilated façade capable of optimising the interior temperature of the house and, at the same time, standing the test of time.

The chosen material was Dekton Sirius in 8 mm thick slabs. It is a finish with a textured visual sensation and greenish touches that brings realism and strength to the project. It is available with mesh and in 320 x 140 cm slabs, making it ideal for large surfaces such as façades and interior claddings.
