Brick Cave House
H&P Architects
Hanoi, Vietnam
In the north of Vietnam, where cities like Hanoi are seeing suburban communes growing around them without planning, we find the Brick Cave House, a one-family residence built by H&P Architects.

Its structure resembles that of a cave in the way it closes itself up to the immediate surroundings, but its perimeter is semipermeable thanks to two layers of brick wall between interior and exterior. This double layer hides an urban space through a play of corners, vegetations, and daylight filtering in through gaps between bricks. Moreover, thanks to the location of the site, with three fronts, the use possibilities multiply, offering the users a variety of atmospheres and views in accordance with the time of day and time of year. The inner volume rises three levels above the ground and has a passable green roof.
