Sergio García is one of the most experimental and prominent comic illustrators in Europe, his work often apperas in prsitgiud newspapers like El País or The New York Times. He is also devoted as a teacher in Angoulême and in his alma mater, the University of Granada. Taking a sample of the most representative works by the artist gives an understanding of the three concepts that articulate his research process.

The first is based on the use of multilinear narration to end to the squared distribution of the page, a strategy which favors a more agile, dynamic reading. The second tries to supersede the longstanding ‘book-format’; for instance, the use of the poster gathers the whole action of the plot in one single drawing. Lastly, one of his leitmotifs is the use of ‘story containers,’ stories within a large figure, as he did in his recent cover for The New Yorker.
