Can paint make an object’s three dimensions vanish?
For the Winter Olympics held recently in South Korea, the British firm Asif Khan created a 35m x 35m structure containing a radical sensory experience. Curiosity to know up to what point we are able to see without distinguishing lures us, like a magnet, into the building. Thousands of pegs with lights at their tips are nailed to the vertical surfaces of the facade, increasing the impression of weightlessness and depth. Like a window to outer space. Inside, the eye takes a while to get used to the abrupt change from superdark to superbright. A totally white hall with a platform producing 25,000 water droplets per minute disorients the visitor.
