A flooring system designed to withstand everyday stress

The Vega area is expected to grow to around 10,000 inhabitants and approximately 4,200 people are expected to commute from the station. This has given an improved public transport through Vega station where trains stop on every 15 minutes for most of the day. Given the high level of passenger traffic, the architectural project required the use of a material that was resistant to the daily hustle and bustle and also facilitated the maintenance and cleaning of the floors.

Finally, the architects chose Dekton because it is an extremely impact, scratch and abrasion resistant product. In addition, floors equipped with Dekton have a high resistance to both UV radiation and low temperatures.

More than 500 m2 of Dekton for floring and stairs

Availability was key at the station and the passenger spaces at Vega station are adapted for travelers with disabilities or traveling with a wheelchair, walker and stroller.

They selected brownish black Dekton Keranium from the Industrial collection in combination with a sandy limestone look through Dekton Danae from the Natural Collection for this project. According to Architect Torbjörn Gudmundsson, “It was a challenge to implement Dekton in an organization owned by the Swedish State. They were very demanding about certificate and test result. It was important with the slippery resistance and the reflection value. Two main criteria were also the durability and abrasion resistance of our material Dekton”

Eleganz mit Domoos und Spectra

Der Südeingang des unter dem Namen Faurot Field bekannten Stadions der University of Missouri ist nicht mehr nur ein Veranstaltungsort für Fans. Er wurde während der letzten Renovierungsarbeiten am Stadion unter Einsatz der Dekton-Farben Domoos und Spectra mit einem spektakulären Diamant-Muster versehen.

Die Farben, die der Fassade ihr dynamisches Aussehen verleihen, wurden sorgfältig ausgewählt, um sich wunderbar in das elegante und innovative Design einzufügen, das die Universitätsleitung den Studenten, die hier Sportveranstaltungen besuchen, bieten wollte. Das erste, was den Besuchern ins Auge sticht, ist der Kontrast zwischen dem matten Finish von Domoos und dem polierten und spiegelnden Effekt von Spectra.

Technische Anforderungen müssen das Design nicht einschränken

Eine der wesentlichen Voraussetzungen für die Umsetzung des Projekts war, ein ästhetisch ansprechendes Produkt zu finden, das auch den äußeren Einflüssen gewachsen ist. In Missouri sinken die Temperaturen im Winter auf unter null Grad, während sie im Sommer oft über 30 Grad liegen.

Dekton erfüllt diese Anforderungen problemlos, da es besonders widerstandsfähig gegenüber Temperaturunterschieden und UV-Strahlung ist. So verlieren die Farben mit der Zeit weder an Intensität noch an Gleichmäßigkeit. Darüber hinaus ist die Pflege und Reinigung von Dekton aufgrund seiner geringen Porosität absolut unkompliziert.

Dekton for resistance against moisture and UV rays

In July 2019, Lucas París Pérez’s interior design studio was given the task of designing two tourist information points in the town of Roquetas de Mar, Almería. The slogan for both was “Roquetas, the sea of dreams”. The idea was that both should be in the same style, but with their own personality. Drawing inspiration from a cube shape and with some typical architectural details, both kiosks had to look modern and tasteful.

The designer knew what was needed from the start. The kiosks’ external cladding needed a resistant material that was also “luxurious”, long-lasting and would enhance the beauty of the city. After much thought, comparing quality and quotes, he chose Dekton Nilium in two tones of grey.

The magic of a seamless aesthetic

A light grey colour was chosen for the Avenida Reino de España’s kiosk, which clearly stands out in an environment of trees and grass. As well as the cladding of the four facades, also using Dekton Nilium, an exterior display and a turret showing the “i” from “information” have been deployed.

The advantage of Dekton is its multiple uses and combinations which, in this case, ensure a finish that is both even and aesthetically pleasing. Choosing a strong material for cladding improves any construction, no matter how small it is.

A material that adapts to any technical specification

The urban kiosk on the Avenida Playa Serena is very similar. For this design, the studio chose a dark grey shade of Dekton Nilium, to contrast with a more urban landscape. The cubic design, the writing and letters in the same colour give them the appearance of being “the same”, although each has its own style.

It is interesting to understand the versatility of the material used in response to the technical specifications that the designer was given. The design of the kiosk, the information tower, the ventilation slots and even the entrance, all perfectly “camouflaged” within the facade, give a good example of the possibilities that Dekton offers.

These two new information points in the city of Roquetas help create an urban landscape that is more up-to-date and modern.
